How Bettor Odds estimates a fair price.
Fair value starts with correctly matched market evidence. The calculation is useful only after the event, market, participant, period, side and line refer to the same bet.
Match before calculating
Quotes are grouped only when their market identity agrees. Opposite sides at the same line can form a complete pair; unrelated alternates are kept separate.
Remove the margin
When a coherent two-way market is available, its implied probabilities are normalized to remove the sportsbook's built-in hold. One-way markets use the available independent evidence and are labeled by their market structure.
Reject weak inputs
Incomplete pairs, impossible prices, stale live quotes and incoherent markets are excluded rather than forced into a result. A book with an unusually large hold does not get the same influence as a clean market pair.
Compare the offered price
The selected sportsbook price is compared with the fair estimate for that exact bet. Expected value expresses the difference over repeated bets; it does not predict a single winner.
Keep context visible
Book count, available liquidity and update timing can help users judge the depth behind a number. The sportsbook's checkout screen remains the final source for availability.
